How to select brand new pew cushions and kneeler cushions for your church.

 

1. Count the number of cushions and length. (i.e. 38 ea at 6ft long plus 6ea at 4ft)
2. Figure the total lineal feet needed. i.e. 38x6=228 + 6x4=24 so 227+24= 252 total linel feet
3. Find the type cushion you need and click on the picture to go to the ordering page.
4. About half way down you will see a heading that says "Enter Lineal Feet" or similar. Below this is list of different fabric patterns with a box to the left.
5. Enter your lineal feet in the box next to the fabric pattern you want.
6. Your price will be shown at the bottom of the page

How to Measure for pew or Altar Rail Cushions

To determine the length (Figure1), using a steel tape measure, measure along the back of the pew seat from inside end to inside end. If the pew has a center divider, measure each section separately from the pew end to the divider. Record the lenght to the nearest one quarter inch.

To determine the width (Figure2), measure from the back corner of the seat (where seat & back meet) to the start of the radius at the front edge. If the radius is large, then measure half way down the radius.

 
Contour:
Contour is needed if the pew seat is not flat and you are ordering a product with a wooden base, such as Pew Form Seats.

How to Measure Curved and Mitred Pews and Altar Rails

Most curved cushions require a paper template. This is necessary to determine the radius of the curve and the angles of the ends. The best way to do this would be starting with a roll of paper 8 to 12 inches wider and also longer than the pew.
Lay the paper in the pew over-lapping the back and ends.

With a marker, trace the back of the seat (where seat & pew back meet) and the ends. This will give you the curve and total length.
Trim off the excess paper in the back and ends...then trim the front.

Measure the pew width (front to back) and mark it on the pattern. The front trim of the paper does not have to be 100% accurate.
 

How to Measure Pews or Altar Rails with Angled or Mitered Ends

 

• If cushions are curved and angled on both ends, follow directions above for making a template.
•  If cushions are straight with mitred (angled) ends, furnish the measurements as per below:

 

1. Total length of the front of the cushion (right to left)
2. Total length of the back of the cushion (right to left).
3. Width (front to back) of cushion

Q. How do we place our order for pew cushions?
When you get ready to order, you will do the same as above and then…
 Below the pricing boxes you will see another box where you can enter the actual production breakdown i.e. 3ea at 6ft x 15”, etc.
 
For curved pews or altar rails, you will need to provide a paper template of the entire altar rail area.


 
Q. How long will it take to get our new cushions?
As long as the fabric is readily available, most order ship within 3-6 weeks. Exceptionally large orders may take a little longer and ocasionally, seasonal backlogs can occur as everybody is ordering for Easter or Christmas, but generally, you can figure 4 week as a good estiamte. Remember, this is only a general estimate, you can always email us to find out our current backlog.



Q. What fabrics do you offer?
We can usually get just about any fabric on the market. We list our standard fabrics for each type of cushion on the cushions ordering page. Scroll to the bottom of each page to see the available fabrics. These standard fabrics are what the vast majority of churches use for that particular type of cushion but again, we can get other fabrics on request.



Q. Do you send out fabric samples?
Yes. If you would like a sample of fabrics prior to placing your order, please email us (our email address is listed on the About Us page). Be sure to include the church name and address, your name, the specific product SKU you want the fabrics for (this prevents us sending fabrics that might not be available on all products) and the color, number and mane of the fabric(s) you wish to see. (i.e. Sherpa Cardinal and Infinity 5017 Cranbery, etc.)

Disinfecting Fabric Recommendations
from Absecon Mills

sherpa & shire (and other 100% olefin fabrics)
Sherpa and Shire, and all of our 100% Marquésa Lana™ olefin patterns are made with a 100% solution dyed yarn which is impervious
to 100% bleach, and should have no impact from the disinfectants that are recommended for Covid-19 (see list below). However, the
CDC recommends household bleach (that includes 5.25% or 6.00%–6.15% sodium hypochlorite depending on manufacturer) diluted
in water at a 1:10 dilution ratio which is 1.5 cups of bleach in a gallon of water to disinfect porous surfaces. The use of bleach on Sherpa
and Shire will have no harmful impact and the recommended treatments will not void our warranty, but we always recomend that the
fabric to be cleaned and disinfected should be tested in an inconspicuous area first.
Considerations concerning use of bleach as a disinfectant:
• Chlorine solutions should be prepared fresh daily, as they are light sensitive. They have an expiration date and can lose efficacy
fairly quickly if not stored properly. Bleach expires one year from production.
• Most chlorine products require the removal of organic soil prior to their use (removing bulk spill matter, cleaning prior to
disinfecting).
• Disinfection requires a wet contact time (amount of time the disinfectant is required to be left on the surface to be effective). Ten
minutes is recommended but please follow manufacturers instructions.
• Chlorine solutions are corrosive and can pit metal and damage skin.
• NEVER mix bleach with any product containing ammonia or acids.


100% polyester & polyester blends

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE PRODUCTS
Our polyester and polyester blend fabrics are more sensitive to the effects of bleach, but a 3% bleach solution (1/3 cup bleach to 1 gallon
of water) is the highest concentration that can be used, but we can’t guarantee that long term use and cleaning will not pose a problem.
We recommend using something like Clorox’s Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaner Disinfectant instead. This product, which is available as both
a spray (for fabrics) and a wipe (for hard surfaces only), is listed below and will kill pathogens on both hard and soft surfaces, and can
eliminate bacteria and viruses in 30 seconds. The industrial-grade cleaner can be applied to a variety of fabrics, including those that
are 100% polyester. The cleaner has no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), harsh fumes, bleach, or added fragrance, and its active
ingredient, hydrogen peroxide, breaks down into water and oxygen upon use.
QUATERNARY AMMONIUM PRODUCTS (QUATS)
These products such as Lysol’s Clean & Fresh Multi-Surface Cleaner is also EPA-registered for its virus-fighting abilities, killing 99.9%
of viruses and bacteria. The product’s active ingredient, alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride has been implicated in various
adverse health effects, so you’ll want to avoid skin contact, inhalation, or accidental ingestion. As with all potent cleaners, keep away
from your kids, apply only in well-ventilated areas, and wash surfaces with clean water after use. Please follow all manufacturers
instructions when using these products.
Again, we always recommend that the fabric to be cleaned and disinfected should be tested in an inconspicuous area first.

Approved disinfectants for use against SARS-CoV-2
Because SARS-CoV-2 is a new virus, it is not readily available for use in commercial laboratory testing to determine if a certain
disinfectant product is effective at killing the virus. However, the following list of surface disinfectants has shown effectiveness against
another type of human coronavirus similar to SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19
