Bowl Patens

Bowl patens for use in consecration of communion wafers/host are available in 24k gold plated solid brass or sterling silver with 24k gold lining (inside only) or 24k gold plating (entire piece). Only priests or deacons are permitted to handle a paten, other than the sacristan in normal duties. The bowl paten may be used as a host bowl for distribution or to reserve the eucharist in the tabernacle provided the ministers are made aware of it's useage. Glass bowls should not typically be used for distribution of the consecrated host is US churches, without permission of the bishop or ordinary.
